The fear of a system or computer crash is daunting not only for individuals but organizations at large. The common cause is malware, and can be presented in various forms.

What is Malware?

Malware is the overarching title for various malicious software attacks. These actions generally result in extreme software damage or unauthorized access to systems of data.  Oftentimes, malware appears harmless, but in fact carries detrimental consequences.

What are common forms of Malware?

  • Viruses
  • Worms
  • Ransomware
  • Spyware
  • Adware
  • Trojans

How to protect Against Malware

The most effective way to protect against malware is to recognize its most common forms, and understand what to look for. It’s simple to say malware comes in the form of viruses and more, but what exactly does this mean? The primary and most routine source of malware comes via email, more specifically email attachments. Take caution when opening mail from unspecified or unknown sources.
